The story of Romek and Company Limited since its incorporation in Nigeria in 1988 has been one of success.  Since the breaking of the acceptance barrier, as usually happens to most new business operations, particularly, where the technical skills and expertise required are of very high standards, the company has continued to grow.  Projects signed-on, and successfully completed and commissioned are testimonies to the company’s expertise.

HSE POLICY STATEMENT

 It is ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED policy that activities are planned and executed in a manner that:

*          Preserves the health, safety and Security of its employees, sub-contractors and all members of the public who may be affected by ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED operations

 

*          Minimise impact of its operation on the environment

 

*          Shows concern to the needs of ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED host communities.

 

Every ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED employee and its sub-contractors employee must carry out his or her work in accordance to the laid down policies of the company.

 

An activity, in the view of the employee, which cannot be carried out in accordance with the policy, must be suspended and reported immediately to the relevant ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED supervisor.

  

COMMUNITY RELATIONS POLICY

In order to pursue mutually beneficial relation with host communities, ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED 

 

v                   Establish and maintain close relationship with host community

v                   Give attention to relevant issues affecting the community

v                   Provide employment for youths in our area of operation

v                   Provide assistance within the limit of its resources to the host communities inform of training youths in areas of their interest within our scope, employment and community development project.

QA/QC POLICY STATEMENT

ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED is engaged in the provision of all engineering needs of the oil companies.  Our areas of operations are, but not limited to, Mechanical, Civil, Building, Electrical, Construction, Procurement, Transport Services, Project Management and Supply.

 

It is the policy of ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED to provide our Clients with products and services, which conforms to all specified requirements in a timely and cost of effective manner.

 

For ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED, Quality is one of the most important means for achieving the objectives of our engagement.  The concept of quality includes all aspect and features of a product or services having the purpose to satisfy Client requirements and expectations.

 

We have established a Quality System based on ISO 9001, Quality System Model for Quality Assurance in Design/Development, Production, Installation and Servicing.  All procedures, documentation and practice, in all areas, are equipped to meeting the requirement of this international standard.

 

The achievement of these Quality Objectives and, as a consequence, of the basic objective to keep on operating as  a competitive and successful Company, depends on the quality of personnel, on the adequacy of organization, on commitment to work and, above all, on everybody’s attitude to the problem of quality.

 

All personnel have the responsibility, the authority and organizational freedom to identify and evaluate quality concerns and to initiate solutions.  The works are committed to continuous improvement of quality and are encouraged to be actively involved in defect prevention and early detection and elimination of non-conformances.

 

The Quality Assurance and Quality Control department acts independently from other departments with the QA/QC Manager as head.  The Manager of QA/QC function has got the necessary authority and freedom of initiative to check that the Quality System is correctly implemented and to propose and start any corrective action whenever deemed necessary.

 

The  QA/QC  Manager  has  the  support  of  the  Top Management to ensure, by any means, that the Quality Policies  outlined in this Quality  Manual are fully implemented and that proper development and improvement programs are prepared, put into  effect and monitored.

NIGERIAN CONTENT PLAN

ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED being a company incorporated in Nigeria has all its office and operational base in Nigeria.  As a result of this, priority is given to the made in Nigeria goods and services in all the company’s operations. This is reflected in the organizational structure of the company which is made up of 100% Nigerians.  To substantiate the Nigeria content distribution we categorize it into personnel, equipment/facility, material/consumables and sub-contractors.

PERSONNEL

The company has 100% local staff (Nigerian).  Experience has shown that training and proper human management yield a tremendous result.  The company has structured system that enhances individual ability and skill in a particular field.  Apart from the theoretical approaches to the training which is organized by the Company’s Departmental heads, the workers (trainees) are allowed to practicalize the acquired knowledge.  The company observes Saturdays as the training and practical day.

During the session, each of the Departmental Heads will give summary of the week’s activities and room will be given for questions before new topics are introduced.  A daily record of workers input is reported to maintain a high level of individual development.  At the end of the month, test practical are given to the workers and those who failed would be allowed to fix a date to repeat their project.

The Heads of the department are trained with high level   of inter-personal relation to carry their subjects along. This is because the company staff come from diverse ethnicity in Nigeria.  In order words, we maintain a certain medium of communication e.g. Pidgin English and vernacular.  These have some impact on the workers relationship because feelings can be expressed easily.

The company has been involved in Youth empowerment of the Host Community of our areas of operation.  We achieve this through Apprenticeship training scheme.  As a result of all these we are seriously committed to Nigeria Labour patronage since cost of services is cheaper considering the logistics to   maintain and to keep staff.

EQUIPMENT / FACILITY

The company is committed to the growth of the local market by sourcing their Equipment and Facility locally.

We have wide range of equipment available to our service.  For instance, most of our Mercedes trucks are sourced from ANAMCO TOYOTA, FIRST MOTORS, and so many other local companies.

As a result of the dynamics of the 21st century economy, most of the tools the company required are available at our disposal.  As such, the company has maintained 1,009 equipment sourcing locally.

MATERIAL / CONSUMABLES

The company has it as their key objectives to empower our local market economically by patronizing mainly local marketers.  It is well known that not all the material/service parts are not produced in the country, but we do not engage in direct importation of these products.  We acquire them from the market.   In procurement of materials, we tend to maintain steady link via an affordable bargaining power.

The percentage of content of the material we source locally is dependent on the task at hand. Priority is given to locally sourced material before going for imported alternative in the market.

SUB CONTRACTORS

The company from time to time engages in sub-contracting part of our services to valued contractor at our disposal. These contractors are mainly the company’s made establishment whose member or owner’s had worked in ROMEK AND COMPANY LIMITED. This is to maintain a particular level of craftsmanship and consistency.  Certain controls are in place to ascertain desired result from our contractors.  We deploy supervisors from our company to monitor the progress of particular project and to make useful suggestion to foster better performance.  The sub-contractor of the company depends on the value and size of the project.  The logistics involved in supporting a project enable us to draw the economical inferences after taken due discussion on the profit index of the job.  As such, we subcontract job whose value cannot support our engineering economic plan, thus maintaining normal Client-customer relationship.
