It is the A&M Hymn rhyme 217 that captured the true state of the one week event culminating in the successful coronation of the Amanyanabo of Nembe, His Eminence, King Edmund Maduabebe Daokoru, CON, FIC, Mingi XII. For this spiritual creed it was a better expression of the coronation. Stanza two read thus; Crown him, ye morning stars of light, who fixed this floating ball; Now hail the strength of Nembe’s might, And crown him King of all. On Saturday February 23, 2008, as the morning sun peeps its rays from the eastern hemisphere, it shone lines reflecting from the body of water that surround this ancient kingdom of Nembe with its natural ambiance of beauty creating a rainbow coalition of colours and elegance. From the water fronts through the meandering streets, to King Koko Square down the concrete roads leading to the steel bridge crossing to the palatial edifice of King Daokoru it was a carnival of beauty, glamour and ecstasy. Indeed, this event did not only bring back old memories of the Nembe culture, it reactivated unity, love and dedication to communality as many who left this cradle of history years ago returned, probably, for the first time after about 20 years.
